      In 1990 three local pharmacists had the vision to help people who were uninsured. The three founded C*A*R*E* Chest of Sierra Nevada with a recycled durable medical equipment lending program helping more than 300 people in 1992. Since then, 56,165 individuals have been helped with 84,053 medically related items!

     In January of 2008, The William N. Pennington Foundation settled the mortgage against the C*A*R*E* Chest facility.  This generosity enables funds raised to be spent directly on client services.
